Over 93mln birr health projects to be executed in Oromia |
| Addis Ababa, December 29,2005 (WIC) - Health projects worth over 93 million birr would be carried out in Oromia state this budget year,the Health Bureau disclosed. Planning and Program Service Head with the Bureau,Asfaw Bekele, told the weekly Oromia newspaper that the construction of outstanding and new health projects would be undertaken in zones and woredas where health provisions have not yet been available. Among the outstanding health projects to be finalized are three hospitals,six health centers, five health posts and nurses training center,the Head said,adding that four new hospitals and 69 health centers would also be built and maintenance and expansion of the Negelle Hospital as well as Metu and Asella nurses training centers will be carried out. According to the paper, of the total fund allotted for the implementation of the projects, 54.8 million birr was earmarked by the government, while 33.7 million birr will be secured in donation and 4.5 million birr in loan. Upon going operational, the health projects would raise the health coverage of the state to 75 percent from the existing 62 percent,it said. |
