Mekelle, May 8 (WIC) - Youth in Adigrat town of the Tigray state have reportedly vowed to strive diligently and thus ensure self sufficiency.
While concluding a day-long conference that attracted over 500 youth, officials and parents, the youth in the town expressed their readiness to change their livelihoods by engaging in micro and small-scale enterprises.
The youth raised problems of getting loan services in time and professional assistances, among others in the conference, it was pointed out.
Town Deputy Mayor, Berhane Tsegaye said on the occasion pledged that the administration would address problems raised by the youth through discussion with pertinent offices.
The Deputy Mayor underscored that it is mandatory to carry out extensive awareness raising activities in order to engage the youth in various income-generating schemes.
Town Youth Affairs and Sports Office Head, Mulugeta Kahsay on his part said that some 1,200 youth embraced under youth package in the town have reportedly been exerting efforts to change their livelihoods.
The conference would significantly contribute towards curtailing problems of the youth, the indicated.
