Bahirdar University organizes moot court competition among universities

Bahirdar, May 9 (WIC) – The Bahirdar University recently organized moot court competition among universities in the country used to be carried out by Action Professionals’ Association earlier.

Some 21 law students drawn from seven universities took part in the competition that dwelt on conditions to be fulfilled by the government to ensure the rights of citizens, ways of lodging complaints to the African Human Rights Commission, among others.

The contestants are drawn from Bahirdar, Jimma, Gondar, Haromaya and Mekelle universities as well as Royal and Alpha university colleges, it was pointed out.

Amhara State Supreme Court President, Wubshet Shiferaw, said after handing out prizes to the winners that organizing the competition by the universities themselves would help to curtail complaints related to arbitration.

The competition would help the students to put the theoretical knowledge they have grasped into practice, the president added.

Jimma, Gondar University and Royal University College ranked from one to three in the moot court contest, it was learnt.
