Addis Ababa, May 9 (WIC) - Successful results have been attained in the 16th African Athletics Championship (AAC), Ethiopia Athletics Federation announced.
Member of Executive Committee and Honorary Treasurer, Amanuel Abrham, Technical Department Head Dube Jilo and Office Head Adam Tadesse indicated in a joint press briefing they gave today that the outcomes achieved in the Championship are beyond expectations.
No complaints were witnessed with regard to arbitration owing to trainings provided to 120 referees, they added.
The Championship broadcast live in over 70 countries has immensely contributed towards improving the image of the country, the officials noted.
Athletes and professionals in the country have drawn valuable lessons from the Championship especially in short-distance races which are not customary in the country, they added.
The construction of the federation's head office, renovation works carried out in the stadium and other activities executed at a cost of some 18 million birr have also contributed for the result attained in the event, they stated.
The federation finally expressed gratitude to contributions made by governmental and non-governmental organizations for the successful conduct of the Championship with sense of ownership, it was pointed out.
