The late Prime Minister, Meles Zenawi, was orchestrator of influential ideas , highest caliber of practicality and source of long sighted visions during his leadership , government officials said .
Speaking at the panel discussion of the 5th year commemoration of the late Meles Zenawi held at Meles foundation yesterday, panelists said that the great leader was devoted to generate new ideas that enabled to change the livelihood of many and ensure the benefit of Ethiopian people.
Bereket Simon, one of the veteran EPDRF members, says Meles was a master mind of key political ideas that are solutions for multiple challenges that were encountered during his leadership of government and the armed struggle.
According to Bereket, Meles was a visionary leader, able to provide an alternative economic model and thoughts for Ethiopia and Africa. Meles Zenawi's economic model is taken as a preferable economic model for African countries in order to register fast economic growth and reduce economic dependency on foreign aid from the developed world, he stated.
Addisu Legesse also noted that Meles was proponent of different political views and military strategies that were practice in Ethiopia during the struggle for freedom.
Communication, Information and Technology Minister, Dr Debretsion Gebremichael, said on his part that the existing political and economic strategies targeted at eradicating poverty and backwardness are results of relentless efforts made by Meles Zenawi.
Shiferaw Shigute also commented that Meles was staunch fighter and eloquent diplomat for his political thoughts and during his leadership, every citizen recognized him by his style of leadership.
Ethiopia has started to build up huge hydro electric power dams by the far sighted development policy of renewable energy initiated by Meles Zenawi , advisor of prime minister Hialemariam Desalegn, Alemayehu Tegenu also remarked.
Meles has originated the very idea of the construction of GERD based on the ownership, financing, skills and multi-faceted resources of the peoples of Ethiopia, he indicated.
The recent participation and benefit of women in social , economic and political sectors are contributions made by Melese Zenawi for about 20 years , Aster Mammo, stated.
