Addis Ababa, February 22, 2021 (Walta)- The 2nd Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) scientific conference on migration and displacement starts in Addis Ababa today.
In his opening remarks, IGAD Secretary-General, Dr. Workeneh Gebeyu, said the member states have made significant strides in crisis management and conflict prevention.
He added that the efforts have been successful in preventing migration and displacement in the region.
Scientific research on the causes and solutions of migration and displacement in East Africa is also being presented.
The conference provides an opportunity to inquire into critical evidence and emerging knowledge that will inform decision-making and policy development on migration and displacement governance.
