Forum to honor journalists, media organizations

Addis Ababa, October 13 (WIC) – Forum for Environment (FfE) in partnership with Ethiopian Sustainable Tourism Alliance (ESTA), today announced the launching of application for Media Award as part of the 6th annual National Green Award Program.

At a press conference held here in connection with the program, FfE Program Manager, Yonas Gebru, said the main objective of the award is to encourage media organizations and individual journalist to give more emphasis on environmental coverage.

He said journalists and media organizations that carried out exemplary activities on environmental conservation and tourism can submit their works for competition.

Applicants can present articles, radio and television programs in Amharic, English, Tigringa and Oromifa languages before November 5, 2011.

Applicants should only submit works done between August 17, 2002 and August 30, 2003 Ethiopian Calendar, he said.

Green Award Program is an environmental award program which is initiated and implemented by Forum for Environment.

The annual award program recognizes, acknowledges and celebrates initiatives and outstanding achievements of individuals as well as institutions in protecting and enhancing the environment.

President Girma Woldegiorgis is the patron of the program since its beginning in 2005.
