National Youth Conference to be held

Addis Ababa, 09 August 2016 (WIC) – The Ministry of Youth and Sport has announced that it has completed preparations for the fourth National Youth Conference.  

State Minister of the Ministry, Adissu Arega, said that the conference will be held in Addis Ababa from August 19 to 20, 2016.

The minister said that the two day conference aims to build a national consensus on issues of national interest.     

According to the minister, the youth drawn from every corner of the country will convene in Addis Ababa to discuss pressing issues in their economic and social life.

Besides, they are also expected to discuss the threat posed by rent seekers and lack of good governance to the blossoming economic activity of the country. Their role in solving that, he said.

The ministered noted that the questions to be raised during the discussion will be addressed by Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalagen. 

Apart from the primer, government top officials will discuss policy issues and way forward with the youths.  

The ministered urged the youth not to be consumed by hate political campaign aimed at tarnishing the positive gains the country has achieved over the years.

More than 3,000 youths are expected to participate in the conference. The three National Youth Conferences were held in 2007, 2009, and 2010.
