Ethio-telecom receives eight international awards

Addis Ababa, 04 August 2016 (WIC)The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology has announced that ethio- telecom has received eight international awards this year following the implementation of performance based evaluation system.

Minister of the Ministry, Debretsion Gebremichael (PhD), said that implementing performance based evaluation system has enabled the state utility company to receive eight international awards this year alone.

The minister said that the company has been striving to make data service accessible to the public in manners that can satisfy the growing information needs.   

The minister said so while addressing federal and regional national information communication employees and officials who are participating in the National Symposiums aimed at evaluating the achievement and challenges in the sector in 2016.  

According to the minister, the company has received a second continental recognition for its endeavor in developing the stock its human resource next to Nigeria.

The telecom company has released 20 apps that can ensure open access to information including an app that lets students to know their placement at higher education from the palm of their hand by using a mobile hand set, he said.   

According to information obtained from the ministry, the gathering evaluates budget performance of the year, the state of information technology and auxiliary services like Woreda Net and Lehulu Payment System, Community Information and Radio Call Center, Back Up and new Email Applications among others.
