St. George’s Sport Academy to be inaugurated

St. George’s Sport Academy, Yidnekahew Tessema Youth Sport Academy, will be inaugurated this Tuesday.

In his exclusive interview with WIC, Public Relations Head with the Club, Minilik Girma, the academy that has cost over 60 million ETB is a plus in producing new replacement sportsmen both for the club and the national team at large.

CAF’s Executive Committee Members and high government’s officials are expected in attendance for inauguration.

Similarly, 20 buses carrying Funs of the club will travel to Bishoftu this Saturday, it was noted

The academy that has grounded on 24,000 hectares of land is expected to accommodate over 100 youth aged below 15 years.

According to Minilik, the academy has incorporated two football peaches, dining, conference, gaming, dressing rooms, modern medical and gymnasium centers.

Cost of the construction is covered by funs and partners of the club.

St. George Sport Club is the first club in Ethiopian football history and is the first club to own sport academy as well.

The club has crowned Ethiopian Premier League title and currently is leading the table of this season competitions.  

St. George Sport Club was established in 1935.

The club was established by Greeks when Fascist Italy invaded Ethiopia in 1935. Founded by Ayele Atnash and George Dukas, the club quickly became the symbol of Ethiopian nationalism and a representation of the country's quest for freedom, Walta learnt.
