Ethiopia plans to bag 1.2 bln USD from oil seeds, pulse export

Addis Ababa, 13 August, 2016(WIC)- The Ministry of Trade has disclosed that it has planned to gain about 1.2 billion birr from the export of oilseeds and pulses this year.

Crop production and Marketing Directorate Director with the Ministry, Mulugeta Muhammed, told WIC that the country has planned to export 98.233 thousand tons of oilseeds and pulses this year and gain the stated amount of income.

The planned amount of export has increased by 26 percent as compared to the same period last year.

The Ministry has set strategies to integrate stakeholders and boost export of oilseeds, pulses, crops, incense and peppermint, he underscored.

It also has planned to strengthen capacity of exporters via supply of vital logistics, market expansion and creating ties, he added.

Ethiopia had gained more than 900 million dollars by exporting more than 800 thousand tons oilseeds and pulses during the completed budget year.
