A project that Improves lives of Refugees, Host Community Launches

Addis Ababa, March 21, 2024(Addis Walta) The Prospect Phase Two Project, aimed at benefiting refugees and the host community, was launched today with the support of the Dutch government. The project focuses on young refugees in the Somali region and Addis Ababa city.

The first phase of the project was successful in providing education, vocational training, job opportunities, and psychological development for both the host community and refugees.

According to the Dutch Ambassador to Ethiopia, Henk Jan Bakker, the project created job opportunities for 20,000 refugee youths in the first round. Schools and vocational training centers have been built to engage young people in small business sectors.

The project’s second phase aims to make refugee youth psychologically competent and benefit from the host community. The project is expected to benefit the refugee host community more significantly than in the first round of implementation. The project, called Prospect, will be jointly implemented with EFDR Refugee Returnees Service.
