African Countries Set to Establish Epidemic Control Forum

Addis Ababa, February 06, 2022 (Walta) – African countries have agreed to establish an African Forum on that works for pandemic controls, said Dr. John Nkengasong, Director of the African Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Dr. John Nkengasong made the announcement in a statement issued today at the African Union Summit.

The newly formed African Epidemic Forum will be set up by the union to replace the temporarily responding Covid-19 response.

Dr. John Nkengasong said that the establishment of the forum will enable the continent to respond more quickly to pandemics like COVID 19 and others.

The construction of China aided Project of African CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) Headquarters building sited in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia is underway and expected to be operational in the near future.
