African Women’s Rights Protocol should be implemented throughout Africa – Ethiopian President

Addis Ababa, August 11, 2022 (Walta) – The Maputo Protocol which is based on the rights of African women should be implemented with better speed and strength said Ethiopian President Sahlework Zewde.

The president said so while delivering a message on the 19th anniversary of the Maputo Protocol.

According to the President, even though the implementation of the protocol has progressed, some countries have not ratified it yet.

She stressed that the protocol should be implemented with greater speed and strength by involving all Africans.

The Maputo Protocol was an agreement reached in 2003 and aims to increase the decision-making capacity of African women.
