Demeke Confers with AU Commission Chairman

Addis Ababa, November 25, 2022 (Walta) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen, conferred with the Africa Union (AU) Commission Chairman, Moussa Faki Mahamt in Naimey, Niger.

The High-level Delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Demeke is attending the Africa Union (AU) Extraordinary Summit on Industrialization and Economic Diversification on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

On the margins of the meeting Deputy Prime Minister Demeke conferred with AUC Chairman Moussa Faki Mahamt.

During the occasion Demeke expressed his gratitude for the critical role AU has played in the signing of the Peace Agreement in Pretoria between the Government of Ethiopia and TPLF.

He  also lauded the AU for its principled positions in the course of the conflict in the North and later in the negotiations in Pretoria and Nairobi.

The Government of Ethiopia is committed for the full implementation of the peace deal, Demeke reaffirmed.

AU Commission Chairman Moussa Faki for his part praised the Ethiopian leadership for its trust on the AU initiatives and its mechanisms.

The Pretoria agreement is a typical example of how Africa can solve its problems, Mouss Faki further said.
