Addis Ababa, November 8, 2021 (Walta) – The Ethiopian Government has called upon Western governments and international organizations to earnestly consider their position towards the Ethiopian government.

According to the statement issued by the government, Ethiopia is striving to end the conflict in the interest of the country and its people who fought to oust a tyrannical regime and elect a new leadership with hopes of a brighter future.

Full statement of the government is stated below.

In Defense of the Nation

Ethiopia has been a victim of massive cyber warfare for the last couple of years following the demise of the terrorist TPLF-led regime. Currently, as the war on the ground rages, it has erupted again and misinformation is deployed as the primary weapon in an attempt to disintegrate the country. We do not recall such a massive scale of propaganda offensive against a nation in recent times.

In every age the vilest specimens of human nature are to be found among demagogues; and they comprise tribal racists, classical white racists, neo-colonizers, mercenaries, and other coward traitors. These vile specimens are often better organized to execute their evil scheme driven by a fatal ego without a burden of moral responsibility, compassion, or intellection. The massive support that the TPLF has garnered from the West—built through impregnable personal and conspiratorial ties—is part of this international drama to prop up a lackey and subservient agent—cost what it may.

The cabal fabricated lies have blinded the world since the fall of the defunct TPLF-led regime. It has deployed time-tested propaganda hyperboles to instigate emotional disgust—and manipulate global opinion. In doing so, major Western news media have simply repeated such hyperboles and lies—as genocide, hunger (as a weapon of war), and massive rape—ad nauseam, undermining evidence-based journalism.

For any impartial observer, the silence of Western governments on the far- reaching violations of human rights during the TPLF’s tyrannical rule of Ethiopia for three decades was proof enough that the accusation of systematic, widespread, and gross violations of human rights by Ethiopian and Eritrean armed forces is just a smokescreen for their underlying geopolitical interest.

Resolutions on the basis of manipulated stories and systematically orchestrated disinformation campaigns have led to uncalled-for—and unjust—sanctions. The US president declaring a buddying Ethiopia as a threat to the national security of the behemoth America, and the subsequent removal of Ethiopia from AGOA provisions, following the Executive Order of the president, are just two poignant examples.

And yet a few days ago, the joint report by the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) cleared the Ethiopian government of charges of genocide and use of hunger as a weapon of war—the two most serious charges! This keenly awaited UN report is, however, once again virtually ignored by Western media—as the narrative contradicted their current reportage and their interest.

One of the key findings of the report—that was deliberately ignored by major news media and information sources even after the TPLF criminals themselves had officially declared it—is the TPLF attack on the Ethiopian Defence Forces as triggering the war. It explicitly noted:

On 3 November 2020, the Tigray Special Forces (TSF) and allied militia attacked the Northern Command of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) and took control of the bases and the weaponry. On 4 November 2020, the federal government announced a military operation against the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) and its forces. The ENDF, the Amhara Special Forces (ASF) and allied militia, and the Eritrean Defense Forces (EDF) accordingly started a military offensive against the TSF and allied militia in Tigray.

It is our view that the war would have never escalated to such an extent had it not been for the blind support accorded to the TPLF cabal—once a dependable and favorite African dictatorship of the West. The West kept a deafening silence on all fronts: from calling out the culprit who triggered the war to the brutal killings and massive lootings in the Afar and Amhara regions. It conveniently omitted that hundreds of UN convoy trucks were commandeered by the terrorist group for its war adventure—and yet continues to accuse the Ethiopian government of blocking aid.

Such a disturbingly biased stance and blatant intervention of the West, intended to subdue Ethiopia, cannot grant it a role in facilitating a constructive mediation.

Clearly, the Libyan tragic experience and many other failed interventions do not seem to have taught the West a lesson, assuming that it is genuinely interested in the welfare of nations.

As a matter of fact, despite overwhelming evidence, and now the fresh UN report, the West is yet to restrain itself from undermining the legitimately elected Ethiopian government—which has been victim of a well-coordinated propaganda warfare all along.

Once again, we call upon Western governments and international organizations to earnestly consider their position towards the Ethiopian government—as it strives to end the conflict—in the interest of the country and its people who fought to oust a tyrannical regime and elect a new leadership—with hopes of a brighter future.

Furthermore, it is high time that friends of Ethiopia are engaged in its reconstruction.

Ethiopia shall prevail, as always!
