Ethiopia Cultivates 311 Thousand Hectares of Land through Irrigation

Addis Ababa, December 20, 2021 (Walta) – The Government Communication Service said Ethiopia has cultivated 311,000 hectares of land through irrigation.

State Minister with the Service, Selamawit Kassa during her media briefings to journalists today said that the government has undertaking twelve mega irrigation projects by allocating over 9.8 billion Birr.

It was noted that fruit and vegetable are cultivated on 311,000 hectares of land; in addition, 16 million quintals of wheat is expected this harvesting period.

The government is paying huge attention to green economy by cultivating fruit and vegetables in order to withstand the economic pressures of the war.

Selamawit further said that Ethiopia has productively utilized the opportunity at the third Turkey-Africa Partnership Summit to diplomatically exchange views with other countries and address the facts and situations in Ethiopia to African countries.
