Russian – Ethiopia – Djibouti Business Forum

Addis Ababa, January 25, 2022 (Walta) – A business forum entitled “The Russian – Ethiopia – Djibouti Business Forum” was held in Moscow.

The forum was organized by the Coordinating Committee for Economic Cooperation with Africa (AFROCOM) in collaboration with the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in a hybrid form – On the platform of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and online.

The forum was moderated by Honorable Igor MOROZOV, senator of the Russian Federation and chairman of AFROCOM.

The representatives of the Chambers of Commerce and related Ministeries of Ethiopia and Djibouti, Ambassadors of the Russian Federation in Ethiopia and Djibouti, and Alemayehu Tegenu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the F. D. R. of Ethiopia in the Russian Federation are among the high profile officials who have attended the forum.

On the Ethiopian side, officials from the Ethiopian Investment Commission, Chamber of Commerce and Sectorial Associations of Ethiopia, and Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Association have made presentations respectively.

The Forum aimed to raise awareness for the small and medium-sized Russian businesses and give them a clear picture of the investment potentials of Ethiopia and Djibouti as well as to create a conducive environment to improve bilateral trade and economic relations.

This forum also aimed to serve as a springboard for business missions to Ethiopia and Djibouti which will be organized by AFROCOM and are scheduled to take place sometime in February.

According to the information obtained from MoFA, AFROCOM is preparing itself to launch Russian Business Support Centres in both countries shortly.
