Ethiopia Has no Desire to Harm and Invade the Sovereignty of any Country for Sea Access – PM Abiy Ahmed

Addis Ababa, November 14, 2023 (Addis Walta) Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (Ph.D.) stated that Ethiopia has no desire to harm and Invade the sovereignty of any country to acquire sea access.

The Prime Minister in his reply to questions about Ethiopia’s recent sea access quest raised by the members of the House of Representatives at the 4th regular meeting of the 3rd year term of the House of Representatives.

Prime Minister Abiy underscored that “regarding the Red Sea we are not invading anyone, we are not going into war with anybody. But we are not ashamed of asking for access to the sea.”

“There is no one who does not want the Red Sea from any corner of the world. For us, it is our only breath” added the Prime Minister.

He stated that some people misinterpret Ethiopia’s effort to get sea access. “There are those who raise the port issue as a new question, and there are those who accuse of us planning to harm the sovereignty of neighboring countries, but Ethiopia has no desire to harm or invade anyone,” he added.

He pointed out that Ethiopia’s population is growing rapidly and so does its need. So that the issue should be resolved right away.
