Ethiopia Set to Lift State of Emergency

Addis Ababa, January 26, 2022 (Walta) – The Council of Ministers has discussed to lift State of Emergency in Ethiopia.

The council in its 2nd extraordinary discussion today noted that the situation in Ethiopia is being stable; as a result the six months state of emergency is set to be terminated.

According to Office of the Prime Minister, the threat has reached on a situation that can be prevented and controlled by regular law enforcement, currently.

The Council of Ministers, after extensive discussion, passed decisions to the House of Representatives for approval.

It is remembered that the House of Peoples’ Representatives had declared nationwide state of emergency effective, November 2, 2021, as the TPLF and its allies posed a serious threat to the very existence and sovereignty of the country.
