Ethiopian Army Chief Discusses with UK Ambassador

Addis Ababa, April 29, 2021 (Walta) – Chief of Staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Force, General Birhanu Jula meets with British Ambassador to Ethiopia Dr. Alastair McPhail.

 

The discussion focused on issues related to peace and security in the Horn of Africa and the region as well as the current situations in Ethiopia.

 

Speaking after the discussion, Ambassador Alastair McPhail said that his country’s bilateral relation with Ethiopia plays a significant role in the resumption of the phase of relations with African countries.

 

According to the Ambassador, they held a talk focusing on military, peace, and other related issues to take their strategic partnership with the country to the next level.

 

The ambassador said, the recent law of enforcement campaign in Tigray has contributed to the rule of law in the country and brings peace and security to the region.

 

The British government would support the upcoming national issues, he added.

 

Gen. Birhanu Jula, on his part, said that the country is working hard for lasting peace in the region and, the ongoing peace process will be strengthened and assured that the army is in a stable position to maintain peace and security in the country.
