Ethiopians in Distress in Saudi Arabia Begin to return

Addis Ababa, March 30, 2022 (Walta) – Ethiopia has started repatriating its citizens from Saudi Arabia. The first batch of Ethiopian returnees from Saudi Arabia has arrived home early in the morning.

High officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs including State Minister Birtukan Ayana, Women and Social Affairs Minister, Ergoge Tesfaye, and Spokesperson of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dina Mufti have welcomed the returnees upon their arrival at Bole International Airport.

In today’s repatriation program, 498 Ethiopians have returned home, of whom 157 are children and 341 women.

It is to be recalled that a high-level Ethiopian government delegation is facilitating the repatriation of Ethiopians from Saudi Arabia.

The government is planning to repatriate 100, 000 Ethiopians from Saudi Arabia in the next 7-11 months.
