Government Fortifies Providing Humanitarian Assistance

Addis Ababa December 7, 2021 (Walta) – The Office of the Prime Minister announced that humanitarian assistance provided to war-torn and displaced people in Amhara, Afar and Tigray regions in comprehensively.

In a press statement issued today to foreign media, Billene Seyoum, Head of Press Secretariat with Office of the Prime Minister said that the necessary humanitarian assistance is being provided to towns liberated from the terrorist group TPLF.

Following the recent military victories against TPLF forces in the Amhara region the government has allocated over 28, 000 metric tons of food for more than 200,000 people in 24 Weredas of North Wollo, South Wollo and, North Shewa.

The First 30 trucks loaded with more than 5,000 quintals of different kinds of food have been dispatched to Gashena and Lalibela, it was indicated.

She also said that 64,000 quintals of food have been distributed to the Afar region and 7,500 emergency shelter and non-food items have been distributed in Gulina and Chifra.

At the same time, 203 trucks loaded with food have reached Mekele, she said, adding that about 900 trucks were still seized by the terrorist group.
