Gov’t, UNICEF Launch Digital Platform Designed to Empower Youth in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, June 13, 2024(Addis walta) The U-Report, a digital platform designed to empower adolescents and young people in Ethiopia, was officially launched today in Addis Ababa by various stakeholders.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs (MoWSA), the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MInT), and the Ethiopian Youth Council collaborated to launch this digital platform.

The launch event was attended by, among others, Minister of Women and Social Affairs, Ergogie Tesfaye (PhD), Minister of Innovation & Technology, Belete Molla, and UNICEF Ethiopia Country Representative, Aboubacar Kampo, along with representatives of the youth.

U-Report aims to engage young people in shaping policies and decisions at all levels. Registered users can receive critical information, interact with engaging chatbots, and contribute to creating a better world for everyone.

U-Report is UNICEF’s digital community for young people, by young people, enabling them to raise their voices and share opinions on topics that matter to them.
