Addis Ababa, July 5, 2021(Walta) – Honorable Dr. Abebech Gobena passed away at the age of 85 due to COVID-19.
Abebech Gobena, better known as Mother Teresa of Africa, was the founder of Abebech Gobena Child Care and Development Association.
Over the past 41 years, Abebech Gobena (Edaye) has cared for hundreds of thousands of children and provided assistance to more than 1.5 million people, particularly in poverty alleviation programs.
As a result, for unreserved humanitarian efforts and achievements, she has received great awards and accolades from various national and international forums as well as an honorary doctorate from Jimma University.
