House Appoints Commissioners of National Dialogue Commission

Addis Ababa, February 21, 2022 (Walta) – The House of Peoples’ Representatives in its special session held today has appointed commissioners of the National Dialogue Commission with a majority vote.

It is to be recalled that the council has previously released a list of 42 candidates for public comment on the commissioners of the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission.

Based on the recommendations collected from the public, the house nominated eligible candidate commissioners and referred them to the parliament for an appointment.

Accordingly;

  2. Hirut Gebreselassie (Vice-Chairperson)
  3. Tegegnework Getu
  4. Ambassador Ayrorit Mohammed (PhD.)
  5. Bilen Gebremedihin
  6. Yonas Adaye
  7. Zegeye Asfaw
  8. Melaku Woldemariam
  9. Ambassador Mohammed Drir
  10. Mulugeta Ago
  11. Ambaye Ogato has been appointed by the house as commissioner of the National Dialogue Commission.

The Commission is tasked with formulating broad-based agendas and forums to promote national consensus.

The dialogue is expected to create a national consensus on basic national issues, bridge major disparities and ensure peace in the country.
