Addis Ababa, November 03, 2021 (Walta) – The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report of the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) and United Nations Office of Higher Commissioner of Human Rights (UNOHCHR) confirmed that the massacres of over 600 innocent people in Mai Kadra was committed by the TPLF-led youth group “Samri” and militants.
The JIT clearly found that TPLF triggered the tragic attack on the Northern Command Force of the Ethiopian Defense Force and committed some of the most egregious violations and abuses despite many of which the international community has chosen to ignore or minimize.
The terrorist group has committed killing of over one thousand civilians in Afar and Amhara regional states. In addition, the campaign of massacre the TPLF’s snatched lives of innocent people in places like western Oromia.
However, the finding of the JIT, consistent with on-going investigation, establishes the TPLF forces have committed horrific acts of human right violations ranging from “ethnic-cleansing,” torture, mass killing, sexual violence and attacks, and other atrocities prior to June 2021.
