Panelists says upcoming general elections to be historic, credible

Panelists who took part in a recent webinar meeting organized by Chatham House said that the 2021 Ethiopian general elections would be free, fair, democratic, and credible as compared to the previously held elections, according to EPA.

National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) Chairperson Birtukan Mideksa said that Ethiopia would conduct the 6th general elections on June 5, 2021, and all necessary preparations are underway to hold free, fair, and democratic elections.

Ethiopia has so far conducted five general elections and all those elections have not won public confidence and major stakeholders, she said, adding, this year’s general elections would be the most important one in the history of the country as Ethiopia is in a wider trajectory of reforms in the social, economic and political arena.
