Peace Minister Visits IDPs Sheltered in Bahir Dar

Addis Ababa, September 17, 2021 (Walta) – The Peace Minister Muferihat Kamil has visited displaced persons who were forced to leave their homes due to attacks by TPLF and temporarily sheltered in Bahir Dar City, Amhara regional state.

Efforts are now being made to provide emergency humanitarian assistance to the displaced people.

The Minister said the government will continue to work extensively in order to provide immediate assistance to the displaced people in Amhara and Afar regional states.

She said efforts are underway to work closely with the United Nations and other international humanitarian organizations to ensure access to humanitarian aid.

For the past nine days, trucks carrying aid supplies were forced to be static at Wag Hemera Zone due to the obstructions of the TPLF terrorist group but the issue has now been resolved, ensured the Minister.

So far, more than 500,000 people have been displaced from parts of the Amhara region due to attacks by a destructive force.
