Peacekeeping Pre-deployment Training Kicks Off in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, April 12, 2021 (Walta) – Peacekeeping Pre-deployment Training organized for senior police officers of the East African Standby Force kicked off today at the Ethiopian Police University, Oromia Region.

The 11-day training has brought together senior police officers from Ethiopia, Uganda, Comoros, Djibouti, Somalia, Kenya, and Burundi.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the training, Director General of the East African Standby Force, Brigadier General Getachew Shiferaw said the training will greatly contribute to regional peace, development, and prosperity.

According to ENA, the Ethiopian Federal Police Commissioner, General Demelash Gebremichael was also present at the event.

The Eastern Africa Standby Force is a regional organization whose mandate is to enhance peace and security in the Eastern Africa region.

Consisting of 10 member states, it is one of the five regional multidimensional Forces of the African Standby Force with military, police, and civilian components.
