Addis Ababa May 11, 2021(Walta) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, held a discussion with the current President of Congo and Chairperson of the African Union, Felix Tshisekedi.
During the meeting, PM Abiy said that Ethiopia is committed to find African solutions to Africa’s problems and is committed to resum the ongoing negotiation process of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD )under the auspices of the current chairperson.
He said GERD could serve as a model for cooperation and joint development among the downstream riparian countries and will be carried out in a way that does not harm both countries.
It is also said that Ethiopia will reiterate its desire to reach an agreement that will benefit all parties in accordance with the Declaration of Principles.
President Felix Tshisekedi had discussions with Egypt and Sudan before paying an official visit to Ethiopia, Walta learnt.
