Second-Generation Ethiopian Diaspora Encouraged to Contribute to Nat’l Development

Addis Ababa, May 17, 2024(Addis Walta) The Adwa Victory Memorial Museum hosted an event to welcome and encourage second-generation Ethiopians in the Diaspora to deepen their contribution to their motherland.

Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abiebie and Tourism Minister Nasisie Chali warmly welcomed the attendees under the theme “Discovering and Reconnecting to the Land of Origins.”

The event showcased Ethiopia’s historical and cultural richness and opportunities for the Diaspora to contribute to the country’s development.

Mayor Adanech commended the Diaspora for their active participation in national development activities and highlighted their contributions to projects like the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).

She emphasized the Diaspora’s unique position to advocate for preserving and promoting Ethiopia’s history and culture.

Minister Nasisie applauded the Diaspora for responding to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s call to return and contribute to Ethiopia’s progress.

She specifically encouraged second-generation Diaspora to learn about their Ethiopian roots, experience the country’s culture, and understand its history.
