Addis Ababa, March 9, 2021 (Walta)- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said several Ethiopians were killed in a fire at a migrant detention center in Yemen last Sunday.
Ambassador Dina Mufti, Spokesperson of MoFA told journalist today that the government, through its embassy in Oman, is working to know the exact number of Ethiopian migrants who died and injured in the accident.
He said the government of Ethiopia in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is also exerting efforts to evacuate servitors from the areas.
The government of Ethiopia has expressed condolences over the death of its citizens.
Regarding citizen-centered diplomacy, the Spokesperson stated that a total of 733 Ethiopian nationals were repatriated from Middle East countries in the past week.
