Addis Ababa, March 23, 2022(Walta) – The 9th Word Water Forum kicked off in Dakar. Heads of States, ministers, parliamentarians, civil society organizations, the private sector, intellectuals are in attendance.
Present during the high-level segment, President Sahlework Zewde delivered a speech where she highlighted the GERD and the Green Legacy Initiative.
She said in order to address our common challenges three interrelated approaches were required: which are, insuring political commitment, water should be seen as a technical matter, avoiding politicization, and, genuine cooperation which “is not an option but rather a necessity for riparian states of a transboundary watercourse.”
The delegation led by the minister for water and energy will be attending sessions throughout the week.
