The South Nations, Nationalities and People’s Regional State Bureau of Youth and Sports has disclosed that it is implementing various mechanisms to benefit the unemployed youth.
The Bureau has provided training for many unemployed youth on creation of jobs and entrepreneurship.
Bureau Head, Meseret Meskele, noted that her office has focused on employing youth in various alternative sectors and ensuring their economic benefits.
More than 200 million birr is allocated to create jobs for youth both in urban and rural areas of the region.
The schemes to create jobs in the rural areas of the country and decrease the number of unemployed youth in the region since 2005 have already bore fruits, she noted.
Youth who have graduated from different universities have received trainings on job creation and avoiding the sense of waiting for employers.
Youth willing to engage in agro-processing and value added production sectors are encouraged via various schemes, she said.
