The Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MoIT) and Ministry of Mines and Energy (MoME) have signed today a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to use drone technology for mineral and natural resource exploration as well as surveillance of fuel pipeline.
According to the agreement, the Ministry of Innovation and Technology will supply camera-equipped drones for mineral exploration, MoIT said on its Facebook page.
The information gathered by the drones will be analyzed at the Ministry of Innovation and Technology’s data center by using High Performance Competing (HPC) system, it was noted.
The agreement also includes using drones to monitor and protect the 800-kilomater fuel pipeline which will be built between Ethiopia and Djibouti.
