Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has commenced the national 4 billion trees planation initiative during his plantation of a seedling here yesterday.
According to the PM office, the initiative is aimed at mobilizing the public and re-boost the dwindling forest coverage in the country.
The reforestation program is scheduled to plant 40 seedlings per head.
The initiative is to be headed by a ministerial committee headed by the Prime Minister during its implementation in the coming rainy season.
The initiative is hoped to cover more than a million hectares of land, the Ethiopian Environment, Forest and Climate Change Commission Said.
