National hotel and tourism conference kicks off

The first ever national hotel and tourism conference has commenced in Addis Ababa today.

The two-day conference, which is aimed at encouraging the tourism industry in the aftermath of the unrest in different parts of the country that affected the sector negatively during the last few years.

It is attended by regional states’ chief administrators, higher officials, stakeholders in the tourism industry, and others.

Opening the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen stressed on the need for better services and infrastructures to boost the country’s competitiveness in the tourism industry.

According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the conference is planned to be held every year hereinafter.
