UK Trade Commissioner for Africa visits Ethiopia

The United Kingdom Trade Commissioner for Africa, Emma Wade-Smith, arrived in this capital today at the beginning of an official visit to Ethiopia.

During her stay in the African nation, Wade-Smith will hold a meeting with the executive director of the state-owned company Ethiopian Airlines, Tewolde Gebremariam, to discuss the possibilities of cooperation in the aviation industry.

She will also participate in a meeting with the Minister of State for Water, Irrigation and Energy, Frehiwot Woldehanna, in which opportunities for investment and energy development in Ethiopian territory will be considered, and how British companies can support the growth of the sector.

Last August, the prime minister Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed, received the Secretary of State for International Development of the European country, Alok Sharma, who said the United Kingdom is working to consolidate and increase economic collaboration with Ethiopia.

The visit of the Commissioner, according to an official communication disclosed here, is included within the strategy to increase the exchange in several areas and promote new collaborative projects.
