Premier holds talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister

 Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed yesterday held talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on the sidelines of the second high-level meeting on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).

During the meeting, the Ethiopian Prime Minister affirmed his full commitment to strengthening and developing relations with Egypt and to building confidence for the benefit of the two peoples.

Shoukry, for his part, underlined Egypt’s keenness to activate all mechanisms of cooperation at the tripartite level between Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt, in order to achieve the development goals of the three countries and contribute to realizing the people’s aspirations for a better future.

The three countries held the second high-level meeting in Addis Ababa yesterday, in the presence of the ministers of foreign affairs and irrigation as well as heads of intelligence services.

At the end of the meeting, the countries have agreed to regularize the summit of the leaders, establishing the Tripartite Infrastructure Fund and issues relating to the GERD.

They have also agreed to set up national independent scientific research study group on the filling and operation of the GERD.
