IGAD condemns al shebab’s explosions in Mogadishu

The Inter-governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has condemned the deadly blasts perpetrated by Al Shebab, in Mogadishu yesterday.

In a press release sent to ENA, IGAD stated that “the murder of civilian, several soldiers and journalists in the blasts is very distressing.”

Their bravery and defense of libertarian values against the dark forces of extremism will be remembered for long and will continue to inspire a generation of young men and women, the statement added.

“We join the resilient people and the Federal Government of Somalia in condemning this horrendous act of terror and send our sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded” said IGAD Executive Secretary, Ambassador Mahboub Maalim.

At this critical moment for the country, IGAD reaffirms its continued commitment to stand with the people and government of Somalia in their effort to combat terrorism through the existing regional and continental mechanisms, he added.
