The Tigray People Liberation Front (TPLF) marked its 44th foundation anniversary in Mekelle, capital of Tigray region of Ethiopia.
The TPLF veteran soldiers and senior government officials including Region’s Deputy President Dr. Debretsion Gebremichael attended the celebration staged at Mekelle martyr monument.
In a communique the central committee of TPLF made in connection with the day, it said that the day will help remember the journey of struggle and take lesson for days to come. It also said that when it begun struggle 44 years ago, it was to over through dictatorship and bring democracy in the country.
The communique also added that after 17 years of armed struggle, during which time many lost lives, and sustain disabilities, the country has been able to enter into a new chapter of development and democracy.
The day also marked with different programs in different countries including in USA, Germany and Qatar, among others.
