Reforms need protection, sustainability via engagement of all Ethiopians-Premier

Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed has called on all Ethiopians to share their responsibilities in defending and sustaining the  reforms.

The Premier made the call at an event took place yesterday marking the culmination of review of the one year journey of the reforms.

In his remark, the Prime Minister said the stunning changes witnessed in the country over the past year are resulted from sum of efforts of all Ethiopians.

And, it is also the responsibility of all to sustain the sweeping reform, he stated.

In his remark, the Prime Minister also pointed out the gains made in the political, social, and economic sector since he came to office a year ago.

During the past year, gender balanced cabinet has been formed, political parties have returned home after several years in exile, thousands of political prisoners have been released, and a peace agreement has been signed with neighboring Eritrea.

As far as the economy is concerned, the government has managed to secure about 13 billion US dollars in investment, aid, loan, remittance, and service in the past seven months alone, the Prime Minister indicated.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the need to harness diversity, to draw upon forgiveness and love as well as resolve differences in a civilized way through dialogues.

The Prime Minister pledged to add momentum on the reform and make more efforts to reliably rehabilitate displaced community members in the year to come.

He also called on the Ethiopian Diaspora to continue supporting their country of origin. (FBC)
