Government vows to take merciless measure on insurgents

The government said that it will take “merciless measure” on the insurgents, who since last week started wreaking havoc in Ataye and Kemise area of Ethiopia’s Amhara region.

According  to witness from the area, armed men have ransacked and  killed people indiscriminately especially in Ayate twon, found some 200 km away from capital Addis Ababa.

Press secretary of Prime Minister Office, Nigusu Tilahun told a press conference that the government is set up a committee drawn from regional and federal entities to investigate into the problem in detail so that ways of solving it will be best arranged.

According to Nigusu, Kemise, Ataye,Majete and other areas, which saw the crisis are now relatively gaining stability.

Following the loss of lives in these areas, people in Debrebirhan town took to street yesterday and denounced the killings.

Leaning the anger of people who got attached, Nigusu said that they have to know that the orchestrators and those who have committed the attack will be treated mercilessly.

He also called up on the people to tip insurgents so that they will be punished.
