Attorney General sues former spy Chief Getachew Asefa along with 26 others

The Federal Attorney General disclosed today that it has indicted former spy chief Getachew Assefa along with 26 heads of the Intelligence and  National Security Agency (INSA) for "committing gross human right violations."

According to the Attorney General, serious investigation has been made into the matter in which they came up with supportive evidence to indict the leaders of the spy Agency.

Three separate files are open on “prison interrogators, heads of the prison, and heads of the INSA” in that the case of interrogators is being presided by federal first instance court, while the indictment of heads of prison heads presided by federal high court.

These cases, which are already under prosecution, have set an appointment to hear defense witnesses.

According to the Attorney general, 46 charges are produced against 26 defendants.

Among these defendants, Getachew Asefa, who was accused of being primarily responsible for massive human right violation is charged in absentia, as the government failed to bring him before court from within the country.
