Discussion on SEPDM made research wraps up with consensus

The South Ethiopian People’s Democratic Movement (SEPDM) has indicated that the seven-day long discussion on current situations in the region and research conducted on requests for new independent states by some ethnic groups is concluded with mutual consensus.

Head of Central Committee of the party, Moges Baltacha, noted in his press briefing that the discussion was peaceful and democratically conducted.

“We have reached on mutual agreement to prevent internal and external misperceptions on the ongoing national reform and sustain benefits of our people,” he said.

The party has also reiterated the need to ensure rule of law in some areas of the region that recently witnessed unrest via strengthening efforts to induce peace and stability by the command post assigned by the federal government.

The command post is aimed at strengthening peace and stability in the region by wider public participation for the same purpose.

The leadership has also agreed on legalizing informal organs and enable them to operate through the legal channel, he added.

The request for establishment of new regional states by some ethnic groups in the region should also be discussed by people of the region, he said.
