Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has extended his best wishes on the occasion of the celebration of the Ashenda, Shadey, Ashedye and Solel festivities in different parts of northern Ethiopia.
Ashenda/Shadey/Ashendye/Solel is girls and young women’s festivals celebrated in Tigray and Amhara regional states, northern part of Ethiopia.
These are traditional festivities common in Amhara and Tigray regions as women and youngsters celebrate the arrival of light after the gloomy and rainy months.
Women are known to wear traditional cloths and grass-made decorations while attending the festival since mid-August.
The Premier noted that such festivities are symbols of long-standing unity and preserving mutual culture and tradition in the country.
