Ethiopia, Kenya agree to jointly work on transboundary crimes

Ethiopia and Kenya today signed an agreement that will enable them to jointly work on transboundary crimes, said the Ethiopian Attorney General.

Ethiopian Attorney General, Birhanu Tsegaye and Kenya Prosecution Office Head, Nuredin Mohammed Hajji signed the agreement in Addis Ababa.

“Ethiopia and Kenya have been enjoying friendly relations for long, and jointly working in common issues in a way that could be an example for the rest of African nations”, Attorney General Birhanu said remembering the recent discussion of leaders of two countries on transboundary crimes.

He said that human trafficking and transboundary crimes are posing Ethiopians for greater danger, when they illegally cross into the border with Kenya with the aim of reaching to South Africa, Tanzania and other countries.

The Attorney General also added that the two countries will work on illicit financial outflows and terrorism in that they will exchange technical capacities to each other.

Appreciating the measure Ethiopia took against corruption, Mohammed Hajji on his part said that his country Kenya will also take strong stand on this regard.

Two countries will work together by exchanging experience, and building a capacity of one another, he said calling Ethiopia to be a member of the East African Prosecution member.
