Ambassadors commence annual meeting

The annual meeting of ambassadors, consuls and director generals of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs began this morning.

The-week long meeting is being held under the theme, “Institutional Reform for Enhanced Diplomacy.”

At the opening, State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hirut Zemene, briefed the participants on performances of the overseas missions, according to FBC.

She said a number of world’s largest companies paid a visit to Ethiopia last fiscal year to explore the investment opportunities in the country.

Ethiopia also secured more development fund, released prisoners, and carried out several citizen-centered diplomatic activities, the State Minister indicated.

She further said the ongoing policy reform is progressing well.

The meeting will outline direction for the future after a detailed discussion on main activities carried out by the Ministry last year.

At the end of the meeting, Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed is expected to provide guidelines and directives for further action.
