Discussion on unregistered political parties postponed

A discussion that would ponder on unregistered political parties, which are repatriated from abroad and operating in the country, has been postponed indefinitely.

According to protocol they signed previously, the political parties and the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia met today to decide either to go or no go the discussion finally reached to a decision of postponement after intense debate.

Speaking to Walta TV, leaders of Oromo Nationalist Congress, All Ethiopia Unity Party and Ethiopian National Congress complain of the National Election Board for demanding 10,000 members to national parties and 4,000 members to regional parties.

They said that though were reached an agreement scrap 32 articles from the election law, the agreement did not take effect.

Asked about the complaints of parties, the National Election Board is not willing to respond.
